A 2.6% rise in global carbon emissions from last year has sparked discussion about the "progress" this world has really made. The top four countries in order by about emitted is China, U.S., European Union, and India. However, though the U.S. and European union are near the top, they have made progress. They individually each have reduced their carbon emissions by about 2%. This is a step in the right direction. There is a counter to them though. China is the worlds leading Carbon producer. It leads all other nations by by producing 28% of the world's carbon emissions, 12 more percent than the next highest nation. That's not even the worst part, however. China increased it's Carbon emissions by 10%. Some may say that China's population size causes this, but the average Chinese citizen produced 6.6 tonnes of carbon. Scientists are beginning to become very worried that the world will not be able to keep global warming below two degrees, the international target. When one professor was asked about what she thought of the situation she added " we need a radical plan"- Professor Corrine Le Quere.
What plan do you feel the world needs to implement?
